Classroom Training
Important Notice

This orientation must be completed prior to driving agency vehicles. 

 

Authorization to drive should be received from the HR Department before beginning training and MUST be received prior to driving.

 

 

Classroom Training
The Transportation Supervisor will provide you one-on-one instruction on the following topics:

  • ESF Transportation Policy – Review current ESF Corporate policy.
  • Physical and Emotional Impairment – Drivers and staff are required to inform their supervisor whenever they are impaired due to fatigue, illness or other conditions that may affect their ability to operate a vehicle safely.
  • Cell Phones – Review cell phone protocol and sign the acknowledgement form.
  • Consumer / Client Bill of Rights – Review hand-out
  • Consumer / Client Grievance Procedure – Review hand-out
  • Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation – Review hand-out
  • Person Centered Approach – Review hand-out
  • Passenger Assistance - (discussion and demonstration) Safe loading and unloading of passengers, proper use of handrails, loading zones, keep isles clear
  • Transportation Emergency Plan – Review the plan, discuss how to handle each type of emergency situation, what to do and when
  • Defensive Driving Techniques – Review hand-out and discuss
  • Paperwork / Documentation – Review all document, when / how to complete. Accuracy and clarity must be maintained
    • Pre-trip inspection form – Must be filled out before each trip
    • Trip logs – Neat, complete, and accurate
    • Gas log and receipts – Must be turned in immediately
    • Post Trip Empty Van Check – Explain the need and location
    • Observation report and Incident report – Which to use and when
    • Accident report – How to complete
