Authorization to drive MUST be received from the HR Department  prior to driving.

 

Hands On Training
The Transportation Supervisor will provide you one-on-one instruction with the vehicle on the following topics:

    • Perform a pre-trip inspection
    • Explain instrument panel and driver controls – lights, wipers, AC, doors, mirrors
    • Safety equipment – 1st aid kit, biohazard, fire extinguishers, hazard markers (triangles) – How to use each – MUST be checked daily
    • Emergency exits – How to open windows, roof hatch, passenger door, rear door – Review emergency exit procedure
    • Mirrors – How to adjust properly – Use the “rock and roll” method when driving
    • Wheelchair lift – How to use properly and safely – Manual operation
    • Wheelchair tie-downs – How to perform correctly – Respect the individuals rights – Equipment storage
    • Fueling – Never fuel with passengers on board

    Road test:  Each new company vehicle driver is to take a driving test with Transportation Lead.  Driving is to include left and right turns, highway driving, local driving, intersections, lane changing, braking, parking and backing at a minimum.  The Transportation Lead must observe all areas of the above and determine if this person has properly and safely operated the vehicle and had followed all regulations, laws and rules of the road during driving test.

Furthermore, I understand my responsibilities as a Driver for Easterseals Florida, Inc. and agree to act in a safe and courteous manner at all times while driving and interacting with all that I come in contact with while performing my duties.
